Rag Blankets for the Boys

I found this construction flannel last fall and couldn't resist buying it for the boys' room. And this month I finally got around to making them...2 of them both twin size the the two oldest boys' beds. They were so excited.

I used 2 yard strips for the width and varied the height of the colored strips. The orangish yellow strip actually has a circle print to it, but it is kinda hard to see it in the photo.

Twin Size Blanket

During the Holiday Season my Grandma (Thanks Grandma!!) made this quilt for Kyla. She does an awesome job and I love having quilts made by her...so I finally got my act together and got some fabric to match Kyla's room. I really like how it turned out! I'm hoping to make some more twin size quilts for the boys, so I jotted some quick notes down on how much fabric I would need...
3/4 yard for binding (green)
5 yards for front (this is the flower print)
1 flat sheet for back
1/2 inch polyester batting-twin size

Standard twin size is 72x90 but you can make the sides shorter than the 72 inches to hang less over the bed. I went with the 72 inches

Girl's Rag Quilt

I saw a super cute rag quilt at a craft show last October and wanted one for Kyla's room, but they were for babies and I needed a twin size, plus I would have tried to make my own anyway, right? So I looked and looked for fabric....and finally in January found exactly what I wanted. Then I scribbled out a pattern of a bunch of scrap papers. I started putting the blocks together right away (back in January)....then I set it aside and finally got my act together this past weekend and finished it! I totally love how it turned out!!!

Here's a little closer shot of the squares:
