Sew Your Own! Car CD Holder

So...it's embarrassing to show you had beat up my van's cd holder was, but it was literally falling apart. Kyla even commented on it falling apart a few weeks ago.... So I was so excited to find this easy tutorial on Puking Pastilles to create your own cd holder for your vehicle using scrap pieces of fabric, which I had....I LOVE it!

Girl's room Coatrack

My dad had this board in his shop when we were cleaning it out a few years ago...so we turned it into a coat rack. I just sanded it down and repainted it again...

I started with white, painted it pink and wiped off a little of the pink so that some of the white comes through. Then I splattered it with a dark brown paint and a light green. Next I used one of the flowers my mom painted and added some light green ribbon.

I love it...and now coats and jackets have a place in her room. (Finally)

Boy's Room Coatrack

I finally got this finished and hung...It is wallpaper put on a large board and of course pegs to hold the coats, jackets, and hats... Now if only my youngest didn't think it was a fun game to pull everything off and pile it on the floor...sigh.

Towel Rack

My bathroom has a duck theme...this isn't a new towel rack, it just only had pegs and now we need four. So....John drilled some holes between the 3 exsiting pegs and now it has enough pegs for our kids' 4 bath towels.
This shelf is made by putting wallpaper on a board and drilling holes for pegs...how simple is that and I love it!

Hold back the curtains!

I've bought these at Walmart years ago and they've just been sitting...until now. They were super fast to paint and I love that they are bright yellow to match the yellow construction trucks... And look at all the light it lets in now!

Now I need to get the dresser ready...

My New Apron

My friend and I got together to make aprons...So we planned to do this over a year ago...I was just really slow getting my act together and finding the fabric I wanted...but it was a fun day and I love my new apron: We used this pattern of hers:
Once we got the directions figured out, it was a pretty easy apron to make. And now I have a pretty apron I'd love to wear and maybe my clothes will stay a little cleaner :)
Thanks Jessica!!

Valentine's Wreath

I first saw this on Skip to my Lou, with the directions on how to make it! Then I saw it done on Anything But Normal and finally got inspired to make one for me door.
JoAnne's didn't have red burlap when I went to get it...so I used "duck cloth" It's really thick and I ended up having to hand stitch some really thick embroidery thread to make it gather, but I love it!

Lunchbox Love Day 4

My friend, Cindy, showed me how to make these cool cans last year...It's been fun to give them to people and it was perfect for using for today's Lunchbox Valentine...although a chinese container would have been very cute, too. The insides.....fortune cookies and a note:
Glued the bottom back using Diamond Glaze and let it dry overnight.

Lunchbox Love Day 1

So...this is the final week before Valentine's Day. I decided to leave some little love notes in my hubby's lunch for the occasion. I also thought some little treats might make it fun....so this is what he will find today:
It isn't much, but sweettarts are his favorite candy....so it was fun to find a little box of heart shaped ones for him and I know he will love it!

Valentine's Day Treat Jar

I had this jar: added a ribbon and paper heart: Filled it with Valentine's colored Hershey Kisses:
Love It! (and so do my kids)

I caved....

I had no plans to make these:
but my sister invited me to go with her to a bead place and I fell in love....these are so easy to make and I made both of these there and only paid $20 (that includes the watch face) so I loved the price, too. They are way more comfortable to wear than I thought they would be, too!

I may just have to go back and make some more :)

Thanks Staci!

Card Organizer

I finally got around to making one of these...I'm hoping I can do better and sending out cards to pe0ple this year...I think this will help. I found the idea a long time ago on Katie's Nesting Spot.
I kept mine really simple and used paper, stamps, and a 8x8 book that I already had. The pages have pockets that hold the cards I need for that month: Birthdays, Holidays, and other special events. I made my pages 2-sided and there is a pocket for each month.
Now I just need to go through and fill in my dates and make a bunch of cards....but it's a start!

Blanket and Burp Clothes

I made these for our upcoming baby (yeah...we haven't agreed on a name yet :) ) They match the car seat cover, not that it mattered to have them match.

Car Seat Cover

I've been wanting to make one of these for our upcoming baby...so I bought some flannel that I liked and found this tutorial on Make it Do just in time to make it a breeze to make.
It even has curved corners, so it won't drag on the ground :) My favorite part it that it has straps to hold it onto the car seat and holds it off the baby's face.
Here's a peek at the underside flannel:
So I readjusted the car seat straps, put on the cover and one more baby thing is ready!!
